Christmas is coming

This is what the advent calendar looks like with all of the ornaments off of it. See post below for more information.

Christmas is coming!

I made this advent calendar for my granddaughters. I used a cookie sheet and Doodlebug papers, ribbon and stickers. I had my husband drill 2 holes in the top and knotted ribbon through to make a hanger. I then used red tape to attach the paper to the cookie sheet. The squares are punched from pattern paper and run through my zyron. I cut the hangers off of mini ornaments and glued magnets to the back. You can use it one of 2 ways. Leave the ornaments on the front and take one off each day or put on one ornament each day. The ornaments store on the back of the cookie sheet - pretty slick.

Winter Brights Christmas organizer

Here is the front of the Christmas organizer that we made today in class. It is made out of a plain pocket school folder and 1/2 of a Winter Bright Stampin' Up scrap kit.
We put 4 items in the pockets - a receipt envelope, a memo pad "list", an index card "Christmas card list" and an index card "Ideas" book. We used the scraps leftover to make 10 cards. Note: If you click on a photo it will open up in a bigger window.

Winter Bright Christmas organizer pocket items

Here are the 4 items that we put inside the pockets of the organizer. They are decorated using scraps leftover after we put the folder together.

Winter Bright cards

Here are the 10 cards that I made with my scraps from the Winter Bright Christmas organizer. All I did was use my scraps so your cards may or may not turn out the same. I actually ran out of stickers before I ran out of paper so if you use your stamps you can even get a few more cards out of your scraps. Have fun doing them!

September Project

This is the project for September. There are 4 little notecards that will go into the little purse shaped box. These are quick and easy as the shapes are all punched out. Punches used are 5 petal flower, scalloped circle, 2" circle, 1 1/2" circle and 1/2 circle. LOTS of punches. The stamp set used is In the Spotlight (a Hostess set).

True Friend

Here is a pretty card made with the new True Friends stamp set from the Holiday Mini catalog. Stamps used are True Friend. Paper used is Blue Bayou, Really Rust, Sahara Sand and Vanilla. Inks used are Blue Bayou, Sahara Sand and Really Rust. Accessories used are corner punch, distress tool, mat pack, pop up glue dot, circle punch and micro beads.
I used the pop up dot in the center of the flower and then covered it with micro beads. This gives the flower some dimension.

Oh So Lovely

Here is another Oh So Lovely Card - we will do this
one at the September camp. Stamp sets used
are Oh So Lovely and Close as a Memory. Paper used is Vanilla. Inks used are River Rock and Chocolate Chip. The only accessory is brown
ribbon.
You could used this reverse masking technique for any occasion - just change your stamps and sayings.

Oh So Lovely

Here is a card we will do at Sept. camp using the reverse masking technique.

Give Thanks watercolor crayon card

Here is a fun card using the Stampin' Up watercolor crayons and aqua painters. Stamps used are Give Thanks and Flannel background. Paper used is Pumpkin Pie, Mellow Moss and watercolor paper. Inks used are Black Stazon, Pumpkin Pie and Mellow Moss. Accessories used are moss ribbon, horizontal slot punch and distress tool.
It is a good idea to use Stazon ink when you are watercoloring because it won't run. Scribble on a foam plate with the crayon and use the aqua painter to pick up the color. Then just color in your image with the aqua painter. This photo is a little dark so the image looks a little more washed out then it does in real life.

Booglie Eyes Halloween card

Here is a Halloween card that we will be doing for the September camp. Stamps sets used are Booglie Eyes and All Holidays. Paper used is Only Orange, Green Galore and Lovely Lilac. Ink used is black. Accessories used are bashful Blue marker, decorative edged scissors and circle punches.

Reason to Smile card set

This post is by request from Jodi. I used the pallete of prints paper. Stamps used are Reason To Smile and Riveting which are both retired. It would be easy for you to substitue other stamps and make a set of cards as a gift.

Fine Lace

This is a special request from Carol.
The Fine Lace on the card on the left is
stamped with White Craft Ink. The card on the
right is stamped with Versamark with white embossing powder. As you can see the card on the right is brighter and has some texture to it (I am sure that you can't see the texture). The card on the left is much softer.

True Friend

This is a card made with a new stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog. Stamps used are True Friend and Three for You Punch Box. Paper used is NQ Navy, Vanilla and Really Rust. Inks used are NQ Navy and Really Rust.
I used the small circle stamp from the punch box to stamp the Not Quite Navy dots on the background. It matches the brad in the center of the flower. We will be using this stamp set for the September camp also (a different card).

Oh So Lovely ( the first of several)

I recieved a new stamp set and had a lot of fun playing with it. I will post several cards that I made with the Oh So Lovely stamp set. This one is using a technique requested by Jackie -reverse masking. We will use it at stamp camp next month when Jackie is the hostess. No Jackie, we won't be making THIS card but we will be using this technique.
It doesn't take many supplies to do this technique and you get great results. I used a piece of acetate and my coluzzle to cut out the rectangle.
Stamps used are Oh So Lovely and Close as a Memory. Paper is just Very Vanilla. Inks used are Bashful Blue and NQ Navy.
This will be a fun new technique for everyone at Septembers stamp camp.

Oh So Lovely #2

I love the colors of this card. Stamp sets used are Oh So Lovely and Linen background. Paper used is Ballet Blue, More Mustard and Mellow Moss. Inks used are Black, More Mustard and Versamark.
The Mellow Moss background is stamped with the Linen background in Mellow Moss. The Ballet Blue is stamped with versamark. I used Mellow Moss Stampin' Up ribbon.
You could easily put a small saying down in the lower right corner.
This card was totally CASED from one that I saw on Splitcoast Stampers. Love that place!

Oh So Lovely #3

Here is another card make with the Oh So Lovely hostess
set. Stamp sets used are Oh So Lovely and Three for You
punch box. Paper used is Vanilla and Blue Bayou. Inks used are Choc. Chip, Blue
Bayou and Old Olive. I used the mat pack to make the
faux stitching around the image and then used the
choc. chip marker to look liked stitching.

This is a fun and simple card that could be made for any occasion. Stamps used are Oh So Lovely, Holidays and Wishes and True Friend. Paper used is Vanilla and Blue Bayou. Inks are Sahara Sand and Blue Bayou. I also used the new scallped circle punch.

Year After Year

This is a gift card / money holder we are making at the August stamp camp.
Stamps used are Year After Year, Think Happy Thoughts and the new Polka Dot background stamp. Paper is Pretty in Pink, Ballet Blue and Whisper White. Ink used is Black and Pretty in Pink. Accessories are markers, brad, circle punches, Stampin Up' new scalloped circle punch, word window punch and ribbon.
Cut the Pretty in Pink cardstock 4 1/4" x 11". Stamp the Polka Dot background and the small flower from the Happy Thoughts in Pretty in Pink. Be sure and stamp the background before you score the cardstock as it will be easier to use the big background stamp. Score at 2 1/4 " and 6 3/4" and fold on the score lines. Use the word window punch to make the slot for the gift card / money. You will have to punch once, slide the punch over a little and punch again to make it big enough. Glue the lower flap up putting a thin line of glue on the sides and top. Fold the top flap down.
Stamp the flowers from Year After Year on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and punch out with the scalloped punch. Color with Prett in Pink and Old Olive markers. Mat this on a 2" cirlce punched from Ballet Blue.
Cut a 2 1/2" x 2 3/4" piece of Whisper White and stamp the Polkadot background in Pretty in Pink. Mat this on a piece of Ballet Blue cut to 2 3/4" x 3". Tie a piece of ribbon around the bottom. Glue this to the top of the flap making sure that you only put glue on the upper part. Attach your scalloped circle to this piece with pop up tape.
Using a piece of white scrap stamp the Happy Birthday stamp in black. Stamp a small flower in Pretty in Pink. Punch out with a 1 1/4" circle punch and mat on a 1 1/2" circle punched from Ballet Blue. Attach a small brad for the flower center. Using pop up tape on the bottom of the circle only attach to the lower right. This will hold your flap closed.
Using the Think Happy Thoughts stamp set you can make gift card / money holders for any occasion.

Lady Bug Pick a Petal card

This is a cute birthday card made with the Pick a Petal stamp set that we will make at the August stamp camp.

Stamp sets used are Pick A Petal, Polka Dots and Paisley and Stem Sayings. Paper used is Real Red, Whisper White and Black. Ink used in Real Red, Black and Old Olive. Accessories used are black brads, small hole punch, black gingham ribbon, 1" circle punch and a paper piercer.
Cut Real Red cardstock 4 1/2" x 11". Fold in half with the fold on the left. Stamp the background from Polka Dots and Paisley in black on the top and bottom of the card. There is no need to stamp the center of the card as it will be covered. Take a 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of Whisper White and stamp the flower from Polka Dots and Paisley using Real Red and Old Olive. Only reink the stamp every other time. Using Black ink stamp the Happy Birthday from the Stem Sayings on the left of the white cardstock. Using the paper piercer poke holes under the saying to look like the flight path of the ladybug.
Stamp the polka dot petal from Pick a Petal twice on white cardstock with Real Red ink. Stamp the petal outline in black and cut both pieces out. Punch 2 1" circles from black cardstock for the ladybug body and head. Glue the lady bug together and glue to the Whisper White piece leaving room to draw 2 antenna with a black marker. Attach the Whisper White piece to a 2 3/4" x 5 1/2" piece of black cardstock. Set 2 black brads at the end of the antenna. Punch a small whole in the upper left and tie a piece of gingham ribbon through. Now mount this piece onto the Real Red background and you are done!

Cut a 2 1/2" square of Very Vanilla, stamp the tree with Close to Cocoa and ink and distress the edges. Mat this on a piece of 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" piece of Choc. Chip. Tear the bottom of the Choc. Chip piece and distress all edges.
Punch a 1/8" whole in the upper right corner and tie jute through.
Stamp the Happy Birthday saying and the small leaf on Very Vanilla and punch with the tag punch. Distress and ink the edges. Mount on a piece of Choc Chip, cut out and distress the edges. Punch a 1/8" hole in the top of the tag. Using the jute, tie the tag around the bottom of the matted tree. Glue the tree to the front of the card and attach the tag with pop dots.

Happy Harmony

This is a wedding card that we made at stamp camp. The colors are apricot appeal and whisper white. The background stamp used was Fine Lace - apricot appeal ink stamped on white. The flowers are from the Happy Harmony set and are colored with apricot appeal and certainly celery markers. This was then punched out with an oval punch and matted on a piece of apricot appeal that was punched out with a scalloped oval punch. Just love those scalloped punches! I then used the horizontal slot punch on either side of the oval and then put my white wide organdy ribbon through. Very pretty card.

Reason to Smile card

This is a fast and fun card to make. The colors are pretty in pink, close to cocoa and whisper white. The background stamp is crosshatch. Ink the butterfly stamp with pretty in pink ink and then use a close to cocoa marker in the center. Stamp in the center of the whisper white. Mask the butterfly and then use the flower stamp on either side. Ink saying stamp with pretty in pink ink and use a close to cocoa marker on the flower, stamp on a scrap piece of white. Punch saying out with a circle punch and matt it on a bigger circle. Fast and fun.

Heartfelt Thanks

This card uses the following stamps: Print Pattern, Heartfelt Thanks and French Script. The colors used are more mustard, old olive and whisper white. I tied a knot with olive narrow organdy ribbon and threaded a small tag on it before I attached it to the back of the mat.
